S: its programmed to run slow and stay on our time! pop says it helped him back when he was working these shifts. it was no big deal to us because he wasnt gone for any longer than 12 hours but i guess thats a much longer time once youre inside the rift.

S: at least this way you can keep an eye on it and imagine what im doing over the course of my day hahaha

R: Hello! You won’t get this until long after I’ve sent it but I’m going to miss that dinner, sorry. There was a problem deeper in the rift and while I can’t really get into it right now we did lose a worker. Her family has already been informed, I just wanted to make sure you didn’t think I was involved. They're pretty strict with the flow of info in/out of here so I can’t say much more, but know that I’m safe. We’re all pulling extra shifts to stabilize the rift and that means I’ll be delayed a couple hours (your time). I hope you won’t hold it against me because I still want to spend some time together when I get out of here. Anyway, seeyasoon!

S: i dont know how my folks did it. pop was gone all the time and when he was home its like he was still half at work. i guess they pulled away from each other even though theyre still togetehr today but completely disengaged from one another and hes so much older than her now. its a really unhealthy way to live your life. what im trying to say is that i wish you had a normal job, haha. can you get a normal job?

R: The company pays better than anyone else, you know that. I make quadruple what I would anywhere else.

S: but you suffer for it

R: Do I?

S: shifts that last weeks? yea id say so.

R: It doesn’t feel that way to me.

R: I’m trying to build a future for us, you know?

R: Look, I’m going to quit one day and then we’ll use the money to buy a house somewhere far away from here. We’ll never think about it again.

R: And then we can live like a normal couple, have kids, enjoy life, get coffee at little cafes in the morning. It’s just going to be a bit of a grind until we get there.

S: I don’t know how this works but I’m going to send this in the off chance it’ll reach you somehow. The company won’t explain further than that saying it was a ‘mass casualty’ event. no survivors. I don’t know what happened today and I don’t know how to process my feelings because I guess I’m hoping that you might be okay, somehow… Even though that doesn’t make sense because I know all the workers inside are gone already. Am I allowed to hope though? I want to hope. I want to shoot this message into the void and have it picked up by your phone. I need to do this. Other people are trying to contact their loved ones inside the rift and of course nothing is going through. I want to think everything will be okay. since you won’t be around to tell me yourself anymore…
