I don't just write for a living - I do it for fun, mainly. A purchase from Amazon is always appreciated but to be quite honest I make only a few cents when you do that. You can instead choose to download an .epub file of each of my novels for a donation amount of your choice. I value them each at $6 but if all you can afford is $1 then by all means pay that. I'm aiming to publish one book every 1.5 years.
